A Raytheon Hawker 800 chartered airplane, operated by East Coast Jets, crashed today in Owatonna, MN, killing seven and injuring one with two more people still missing.
At 9:46 this morning, police learned that a jet had crashed in a cornfield near Owatonna Degner Regional Airport. Inclement weather and high winds might have contributed to the crash this morning. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of over 70 miles per hour in the Owatonna, MN area this morning.
The Hawker 800 that crashed this morning was carrying seven people coming to visit the Owatonna, MN area glass company, Viracon Inc, and two pilots. The East Coast Jets operated Hawker 800 departed from Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey this morning.
Today’s East Coast Jets Hawker 800 crash in Owatonna is the most deadly in the state of Minnesota since Senator Paul Wellstone died along with seven others in a 2002 private jet crash.
