According to a 22-year long study in men, eating fish and shrimp five times a week cuts down the risk of colon cancer by a whopping 40 percent.
A couple of things that are interesting about this study: One is that people who eat fish regularly might not eat red meat frequently. Reducing consumption of red meant is another factor that reduces risk of colo-rectal cancer. Another factor is obviously the ubiquitous omega-3 fatty acids found in fish that everyone is gulping down as the new-age nutrition supplement to reduce everything from aging to decreasing bad cholesterol – a panacea for all or most ailments.
So, the next time you’re stuck deciding between a red juicy stake and a seafood platter, go for the seafood platter, say experts at RealAge.
