Eccotopia says efforts to remedy the contaminated water supply issues in the Welkom, Free State region are making progress.
Cape Town, South Africa – The board of directors at South Africa based sustainable reforestation company, Eccotopia, Ltd., says they are confident that the company’s efforts to expedite the reaching of a broad consensus on the remediation of the contaminated water issue in the Free State province of South Africa are making progress.
Negotiations with the South African government over the granting of additional subsidies continue despite ongoing disagreement between farming and mining communities over who is responsible for the contamination of topsoil. Both the byproducts of the chemical processes used to refine ore and the cheap fertilizers used by farmers to encourage crop growth are being blamed but Eccotopia remains determined to focus on the remedy to the situation rather than the apportionment of blame.
“We are positive that our efforts will eventually bear fruit. Our revised submissions to the government’s environmental ministry are detailed and highly pertinent and as such, we fully expect more breakthroughs in the near future,” said Julian Moses, Eccotopia’s Chief Executive Officer.
Ariel Haskins, the company’s Chief Operating Officer said, “Our proposals offer real solutions to the contaminated water issues, address, at least in part, unemployment and, in the fullness of time, will almost certainly make a solid contribution to the country’s economy by providing produce for export be that plywood, biomass or even biofuels.”
The company says it hopes to have news of the granting of further subsidies by the South African government within the next few months at which point it will make a formal announcement of the plans for deployment of the next tranche of Megafolia trees in the region.
