From May to June, there have been protests world wide against the rising cost of fuel and oil. As the price of oil per barrel goes up, the price of gas per gallon goes up along with it. Here in the United States, price of gas per gallon is at least $4. In Florida, the price of fuel is at least $3.96. In many parts of Maryland, the price of gas is at least $4 a gallon. You can complain all you want; but, the price of gas is not going down.
Many have blamed a weak US dollar for the high price of oil. At the same time, the price of fuel has been one of the factors blamed for the high cost of food. The issue of fuel and oil has eclipsed climate control as the topic of this year’s G8 Summit in July taking place in Japan.
The cost of oil has brought forth protests across the globe.
Now, truckers across Europe have joined together to protest the high costs of fuel. On Monday, truckers from Spain, France, and Portugal have blocked off highways and border crossings as a means of protest.
The border between Spain and France was blocked off by these truckers. In France, several main highways were blocked off by the truckers.
In a nutshell, truckers across Europe have blocked off roads and other entry ways. So far, truckers in three countries have done this. Perhaps, truckers from other countries may follow lead afterwards.
This is a sign that the whole world is feeling the pain of high oil prices.
