Mentor, OH (GroundReport)- Children are taking part of the historic 2008 elections, well sort of. Children across of the country are taking part in mock elections. One school specifally is the Mentor Fairfax Elementary School which is going to hold elections for their students, November 3rd, one day before the offical elections. 3rd, 4th & 5th graders can take part in the vote, which is optional. Ruchin Patel thinks "most kids really want to vote, and will." They are not allowed to make banners or anything else that will promote who they will support. The 5th graders will make pictures to put on boxes, for people to put their votes in. Students may not persuade anyone into voting for their candiate, the decison must be their very own. Teachers are not allowed to vote for their canidiate The mock elections will be held in the multi-purpose room. On election day, residents of Mentor will be able to casts votes of their choice in a few places, including Fairfax Elementary. That will provide students who attend the school to see real voting booths. The goal is to help students learn about the voting process when they get older. Students will compare the results of their school to the actual Election Day results. School officals hope that students will vote once they get older, which is one of the reasons they are holding it. GO CARDINALS!!!
