Death toll rises to 81 in yesterday(May 28 )’s Maoists attack on Bombay (Mumbai)bound Express train.The train derailed and was hit by a goods train.Experts confirmed that fish plates were found removed at the place where the Mumbai bound Gyaneswari Express derailed.Maoists always choose railway as a soft target.Maoists generally target railway tracks during their shut down.
On October 27,2009, armed activists of Maoists backed People’s Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) in West Midnapore District of West Bengal.After a gun battle between security forces and Maoists,they reached the spot and the train left an hour later.PCPA were demanding the release of their leader Chhatradhar Mahato who was arrested earlier. This year on May 18, suspected Maoists carried out a landmine blast on a railway track at Khatkhura halt station near Jhargram in West Midnapore District of West Bengal,injuring two drivers of a goods train.
