Jammu, April 28(Scoop News)- Reacting strongly to the highly derogatory remarks of National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah against former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked Election Commission of India to debar Dr Farooq Abdullah from contesting elections because he (Farooq Abdullah) is a threat to the democracy and democratic institutions. In a joint statement issued here today, PDP leaders said Dr Farooq Abdullah has realized that Parliament elections were going to be proved as waterloo for the National Conference so he (Farooq), in frustration, has been indulged into malicious campaign against a statesman like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. “It is height of non-sense on the part of Dr Farooq Abdullah that he (Farooq) is complaining to the God that he is facing health problems but Mufti is not facing the same problems”, PDP leaders said and added that irresponsible utterance of Dr Farooq Abdullah was reflection of his frustration. “It appears that Dr Farooq Abdullah has lost his mental balance so he (Farooq Abdullah) should better consult some senior psychiatric instead of wasting his precious time in electioneering”, PDP advised NC leadership, adding, “it is an appropriate time for National Conference leadership to take Dr Farooq Abdullah to a psychiatric specialist at this juncture because after May 16 his (Farooq’s) situation is likely to be further deteriorated” PDP leaders said that Dr Farooq Abdullah, a couple of days back, had threatened to eliminate PDP leaders by bombs and guns. “Dr Farooq Abdullah has become threat to the democracy so he should be debarred from contesting elections”, they said. Terming Dr Farooq Abdullah’s statements as rubbish, PDP leaders said that it was a historical fact that National Conference was part of the NDA government and the then BJP led government at Centre had used Omar Abdullah as “show-boy” all over the world as Minister of State for External Affairs.
“Elections to four Rajya Sabha seats in the year 2009 had exposed NC-BJP undeclared alliance because on the direction of a senior BJP leader some BJP MLAs had voted in favour NC candidate”, PDP leaders said and dared NC leaders to clear their stand on getting vote from BJP MLAs to ensure victory of their candidate. Furthermore, the 2011 Legislative Council elections in which seven BJP MLAs had crossed vote in favour of NC candidates had also substantiated that both the parties have undeclared alliance. Signatures of the statement included Sardar Rangil Singh, Trilok Singh Bajwa, Yash Pal Sharma, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin, Surinder Choudhary, Hussain Ali Bafa, Rajinder Singh Manhas, Vimal Sharma and others.
