A new study conducted by doctors at the Miethodist Debakery Heart and Vascular Centre in Houston suggests that moderate weight reduction in fat individuals might save them from heart diseases.
According to Dr.Christie Ballentyne, Director of the Centre, a weightloss of as low as 6.5% in fat individuals reult in the lowering of blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol etc., which are all responsible for a heart disease.
‘Obesity’ appears to be a central component of metabolic syndrome. In such a situation, the study is useful in demonstrating the importance of weight loss to lessen the cardio vascular complications.
