No lines, no crowds and open to everyone in the world without paying entry, checking into a hotel or take a plane, yes, provided they have an internet connection.
We talk about which bills itself as the book I Virtual Trade Show, a tour of the Spanish-language publishing world began Tuesday in cyberspace.
For six days, just as in a real fair, the event will feature 31 booths, there will be talks, workshops, presentations and visitors can interact with authors.
Flexibility
Some time ago the world of virtual fairs here to stay, but it seems that this is the first time the book is the protagonist and, more importantly, in Spanish.
"It provides complete flexibility," he told Multiple News World, the fair director Jana Gonzalez, "eliminating all physical, geographical, and any visitor can have a conversation with the speakers and authors."
In fact, when I click on the page of the Virtual Book Fair the visitor encounters a programmed flash platform, which can be accessed from any browser.
Registration is not even required to visit the fair, but if you do it can participate in interactive chats or listen to some of the presentations, workshops and presentations via videoconferencing.
"We hope to reach the Latin American audience," said Gonzalez.
"The market is changing"
Appeal to the Latin American public also expects Juan Gomez Jurado, who defined as Ken Follett in Spanish, and who together with fellow writer Manel Loureiro held a talk for readers and attendees interested.
"It’s a new event," he explains, "bearing in mind that readers live in a globalized world where you have some readers who are from Mexico, China or Pakistan."
"On Twitter I have followers who are all over the world are Spanish or Mexican in Holland in China. What unites us is the language," he added.
And in this case also what unites all attendees is the internet.
With this platform, Loureiro jury and explain to stakeholders their experience in the world of e-book and give the public advice on how to help authors and open new markets.
But what happened to the romance of open and flip through the pages of a book aromatic hot off the press?
"I believe the real joy of reading is the reading itself," says jury, "because culture is created only when someone opens a book somewhere and read."
"The market is changing, readers are demanding new ways of relating to literature and is the work of writers and publishers find readers."
Promote the e-book industry
The project is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and has been driven by the publisher and provider Bubok virtual fairs IMASTE.
The idea is not just that everyone participates, but also boost the electronic book industry, of course not forgetting the media on paper.
To do the meetings, in real time, with the participation of people like Silvano Gozzer, digital media consultant, and Javier Celaya, an expert in the electronic book market.
Other interesting shops invite visitors to learn how to write a book and maquetarlo, design the cover and even how to launch and publish it yourself.
Despite the potential of virtual events like these can offer, Jana Gonzalez admits that by the time of organizing such events is expensive and it would be difficult to carry out without the support of others, in this case the Spanish government.
"It is not an activity that is sustained by itself, is a new project. Maybe that’s why there are members of the sector to see it costs."
