In the wake of ongoing development in Liberia ’s agriculture sector, former transitional council chairman Gyude Bryant has criticized the government for doing nothing to support the One Blood organization’s agriculture initiative to make Liberia self-sufficient in food production.
Chairman Bryant said that if the government will succeed in its fight against poverty and unemployment rates across the country it should fully get involved in such initiatives.
According to One Blood’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kenneth Jackson, it is an international non profit organization carrying out food security programs in Liberia and empowering young Liberian farmers. Dr. Jackson said his organization has invested over five million United States dollars in Liberia ’s agriculture sector and has cultivated more than seventy five miles of farm land in Gbarnga, Bong County, an area he describes as the largest seed rice farm in the country.
