Former first lady Imelda Marcos was acquitted yesterday of 32 cases of dollar salting by a lower court. The presiding judge dismissed the charges against Mrs. Marcos for lack of evidence that would merit an indictment. The charges were in connection to the dollar deposits of Mrs. Marcos in
The Philippine Commission on Good Government or PCGG had charged that the $75 million deposit allegedly was part of the Marcos loot that should be returned to the Philippine government. But after 17 years of legal proceedings, the former first lady won the legal battle without spending a day in jail. She was all tears after hearing the final proceedings.
