The family of K. Letchumanan who was found dead in a Police’s jail, suspected there is foul play involved.
Saraswathy Devi, who is the sister of the suspect, told that they were not informed of her brother’s arrest. It was a friend of K. Letchumanan who informed them of his arrest.
A few days earlier a robbery is committed in the town of Raub, in the state of Pahang. According to witness’s account the suspect profile matched that of K. Letchumanan. Thus, he was arrested along with an accomplice a few days after that. However, his friend was released on the day Letchumanan was found dead.
According to the Raub Police Department, the suspect was dead as a result of suicide. No foul-up is involved.
Saraswathy Devi, who worked in a private hospital, have lodged a police report and demanded a second independent autopsy be carried out..
The family have also called the Human Right’s Commission [Malaysian Chapter] and request an investigation by the commission.
The commissioner of Suhakam, Datuk Siva Subramaniam, visited the Police Lock-Up in Raub and spent some time with the family. When Datuk Siva contacted the Police, they promised him a thorough investigation.
The Pahang Police Crime Investigation Department’s head, ACP T. Nageswaran told the press that they believed there is no foul-Up involved. However, he also promised a full and transparent investigation.
