The member of Parliament for Lilongwe East in Malawi EE Mwale has cautioned the government that genocide which happened in Rwanda can happen in Malawi because the government owned radio station is castigating the opposition without letting it hear the side of the opposition.
Speaking in Parliament Tuesday, Mwale said there have been hate messages on the radio and television stations against the opposition saying some people may take the law in their hands by attacking the opposition.
"In Rwanda the Hutus were also doing the same and the end result was fatal.
He therefore advised the government to open the air waves to the opposition.
Government has time and again refused that it controls airwaves saying it is lack of profesionalism at the media outlets that is biggest problem.
Government also says it is refusal for the opposition to discuss the budget that is discrediting the opposition
