Leh, October 14, (Scoop News)- Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Leh Rigzin Spalbar had an introductory meeting with the representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW), at his office chamber today, to identify potential projects in Ladakh for their financial support. Under Project Identification Mission their key focus areas includes climate change adaptation, conservation and agriculture, horticulture, natural resources management, bio-diversity conservation, water resources development among others.
CEC welcoming their proposal detailed about various important sectors and stressed mainly on the development of land based economy like agriculture, horticulture, sea-buck thorn etc. that have the potential for sustainable economic development in Ladakh. He also made them understand about the importance of value addition, mechanization and organic farming.
Talking about other aspects CEC also made a detailed description about other important factors like Pashmina and water based business prospects and assured them of full cooperation from the Council.
KfW works to explore financial partnerships with new states of India including Jammu & Kashmir and special focus is to be provided on Ladakh region, given its unique geomorphological and ecological characteristics.
