It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I announce my formal resignation from the Crime Branch.I would like to thank Biplab Chowdhury, the editor, for giving me the opportunity to work for the magazine. This was not an easy decision to make, on my part. I’ve enjoyed working for him.
I have accepted a position as a sub-editor. This opportunity gives me the chance to grow professionally.
I always prefer to work in small or mid-sized newspapers, magazines or TV stations because there I can torn up the conventional news structures or my editors allow me to experiment with unconventional story angle as they are not market leaders in news.So they may have little to lose in experimenting with unconventional news structure.
The structure of news has change a lot in recent years. In the era of multi media journalism, digital correspondents, why we stick to the time tested journalism? we should ask ourselves. Why regional media takes traditional approaches and behave like regional media? They should learn from their American counterparts. They avoid sting operations and follow the same news structures.Now-a-days,we don’t need good reporters but reporters who think differently.Mr. Chowdhury agreed with me.I always respect his talent but he doesn’t have any planning to run the magazine. Despite the short comings, Crime Branch readers responded generously to the articles because the magazine upholds the values of independence, truth, accuracy, courage. The atmosphere in the news room is suffocating. The magazine is facing serious financial trouble.Journalists in the magazine are in deep trouble. But he has failed in every field. His unprofessional attitude is the main reason behind the current scenario. As a professional,I have compelled to take this decision.I’m sorry.
I wish Mr.Chowdhury and Crime Branch all the best.
