Rajouri/Jammu, December 9 (Scoop News) – “A human being can compromise with many short comings but not poor health”, J&K Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Thursday said adding that good health and education are essentially important in the comprehensive development and well being of the society.
Addressing a large public meeting after inaugurating District Hospital Complex here, the Omar Abdullah said that health is the basic ingredient of life and good health symbolizes good civilization in all respects.
He reiterated his government’s determination to upgrade and expand health service facilities across the State. “Healthy
Recognizing this aspect, the Chief Minister said that his government has flagged both these sectors on the top of the development agenda and measures were on to universalize health service and education in the State.
“While steps are being taken to upgrade health facility in the cities and towns, various measures have been initiated to strengthen the medical service at district and village levels”, he said adding that the establishment of modern district hospitals would go in a big way to provide specialized medical treatment to the people at district level.
“Our endeavour is to upgrade and improve in primary health centres and sub-district hospitals”, he added and said that focus was on providing on good service and modern equipment along with good buildings. He said wonderful hospital buildings should also provide wonderful service to the people.

The Chief Minister announced CT Scan unit and Critical Ambulance for the hospital to be provided by the end of this fiscal.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma listed the achievements registered in this sector during the last two years and said that coalition government has underlined health sector as one of the most important sectors and attention has been focused to reach out every area to ensure better facilities.
Sham Lal said that a modern hospital is coming up at Dharhal at a cost of Rs. 10 crore while as similar hospitals have been envisaged at Budhal, Thanna Mandi and other places.
The meeting was also addressed by Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan. He highlighted the development schemes launched by the coalition government in Rajouri district adding that substantial progress has been witnessed on all development fronts during the last two years.
Present on the occasion were Vice Chairman Kissan Board, Rachpal Singh, Vice Chairman, Pahari Development Board, Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari, Provincial President National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta, former Ministers Ch. Talib Hussain and Mirza Abdul Rashid.
