Gone are those days when men would eat their tummy full and burp as they sleep. In the 21st tech century, people are becoming more and more health conscious, and the leading industry giants are helping us stay fit too.
As Google and Apple battle for the top position in the tech field, it is almost difficult to take sides. Google and Apple have a lot more in common apart from their “LE” endings. Both the companies are counted amongst the best. Both the companies are recognized across the globe, and finally both the companies are ambitious.
To sell your product, the basic thing you need to do first is, know your customers or target audience. People across the globe have become increasingly health conscious over the years, and the two tech giants are aware of it. While Apple, introduced its HealthKit at the Worldwide Developers Conference, held in the first week of June, Google announced its GoogleFit app at the end of the same month.
The Partners
To develop a health app, you cannot just have app developers, no matter how amazing they are. You also need to have good sports companies linked to your own name. Nike, Addidas and Withings are the three most important companies that have made their presence in both, the Google’s Fit app and Apple’s HealthKit.
In the battle between Apple and Google, it is the third party apps that face the problem with picking sides. Runkeeper, which is a famous app has already joint the Google Fit. The company apparently also intends to join the Apple HealthKit. However, Runkeeper hasn’t made any official announcement regarding this matter. On the other hand, FitBit, which isn’t on either side of the game, shares the same intention, however, to join Google. Apple, however, displayed the FitBit logo during the presentation, so we are unsure of the status.
The fact of the matter is that, the other health related apps intend to join either one or both the sides. Although nothing is official as of now.
Collecting The Data
Your health and your fitness is the main priority of your mobile developers, and therefore to monitor your health they have come up with exceptional apps that promises fitness at its best.
Google Fit claims to collect data and calculate your Blood Pressure, BMI, Basal Metabolic Rate, Heart Rate.
On the other hand, Apple Health claims to collect data regarding your Cholestrol, Heart Rate, Blood Sugar and accurately the amount of Calories you burnt.
Both the apps however, collect your health related data, summarize it and display it to you to give you a good overview of your own health.
Managing Your Day
With GPS setting, Google’s Fit keeps track of the distance you have travelled by walk, or run or even cycle. You can actually know how much you have worked out for the day, and the app is also designed to give voice feedbacks, that keeps you motivated.
Apple on the other hand, designed the Health app which keeps an eye on the various aspects of your day which contribute to your fitness, which include Nutrition, Medicines, Sleep etc. It summarizes your test results and provides you with your personal progress report.
The Fit Tests
Google Fit scores a few extra points as it enables various tests which follow the norms. These tests include the Bleep Test, Body Fat Test, Cooper Test, BMR, BMI, Blood Pressure, Resting Heart Test, Crunch Test, Press Up Test and Step Test. With such information available at our disposal, maintaining fitness in your daily life becomes more and more easy.
