Darjeeling:Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha leaders in a meeting organised today at Darjeeling resolved not to give up a single inch of land from the map of Gorkhaland. They have also decided to soon launch the second phase of their movement in Dooars Terai. Speaking to the press, Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha President Puran Thami reiterated that Yuva Morcha would not hesitate to leave the path of Gandhism and Democracy if such a need arose. He further said that the cadres of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha was ready to plunge into the Gorkhaland movement wearing their shroud on their head.
"We are ready to do whatever our president Bimal Gurung asks us to," he said. Thami had been speaking after the conclusion of the meeting of the Central Committee members of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha. He reiterated that the youths who had been earlier arrested and confined illegally by the West Bengal Government must be released immediately. It might be reminded that the cadres of Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha had been arrested during the clash with Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikash Parishad (ABAVP) cadres . They have not yet been released. Among those who are presently in prison are Hari Rai (from Darjeeling), Sunil Pradhan (from Kalimpong) among other two individuals, whose details could not be ascertained.
Thami said, "Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha is an inalienable part of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and will always support and work with the party. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha must be given the right to pursue its political agenda peacefully and democratically in Dooars Terai. The administration should take stern legal action against those who are involved in creating racial and ethnic tension in the region. All the tea gardens which are closed must be immediately opened. If the Government is not ready to accept the demands put forward by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha is ready to go to the streets and create havoc. We are only waiting for directions from our President Bimal Gurung."
Thami paid his respect to the hunger strikers in Gorubathan who are presently in a fast unto death. "We are all praying for them. We will take out daily processions, and indulge in massive postering campaign. We will also organise prayer sessions."
Answering to a question involving the role of the Yuva Morcha in the ‘Dooars Chalo Abhiyan’ of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, Thami replied, "Gorkha Janmukti Yuva Morcha has shown a great deal of character by adhering to the philosophies of the party during the confrontation with the antisocial elements. They could have easily retaliated but they did not and this is truly praiseworthy. We will again enter Dooars Terai with these outstanding youths. We will also have to praise our President’s dedication and devotion towards our land and our people. He will never betray the cause of Gorkhaland. He will definitely led us to a separate state of Gorkhaland."
