Hidden hands trying to fail Government policy of Free Education for all by selling books in black market.
CHITRAL: Provincial Government supplying free books in government schools of Khyber Pukhtoonhwa to be distributed among the students free of cost (to Metric class) both in boys and girls schools. The policy was introduces by former MMA Government but it was also continued by ANP led government in the province so as to encourage students and to increase literacy ratio in the province. But some black sheep in education department and Government Text book Board Peshawar are trying to fail this policy and to defame ANP led government in Khyber Pukhtoonhwa. They are selling these books in black market in some parts of the province. A student of 7th class showed a book of Arabic where there was clearly pasted the stamp of Free from Government Not for Sale but the shop keeper (bookseller) charged its price rupees 44 from the student. When this scribe contacted the bookseller about the reality that why he selling free books to students he disclosed on the condition of anonymity that he purchased these books from NWFP Text Book Board Peshawar. He said that the board administration also issued them receipt of these books where inscribed Not for sale but despite that they receiving its price from them. He said such books are also selling in our books shops of Chitral where warning of Not For Sale already stamped. Former Nazim union council Chitral III and leader of Pakistan Tahriki Insaf (PTI) Sajjad Ahmad Khan expressed great concern over the selling of these free books and termed it against of education causing for decreasing literacy ratio in the province. He demanded from the Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti and Education Minister for taking stern action against responsible persons in this black marketing of Government Text Book Board and education department who involve in this malpractices and selling of free books. He said that one side the poor people are crushing by back breaking dearness and high prices of essential goods and poor parents are not in the position to purchase so costly books for their children while on the other hand text book board and education department are involve to discourage free education for all policy and to decrease literacy ratio in the country. He also demanded for probe into the matter and to be conducted an inquiry to ascertain that either these books are selling by teachers of government schools at Chitral or by Government Text Book Board Peshawar. So as to be given exemplary punishment to the real culprits.
