Moscow has announced that it will spend nearly $4 million to ensure that the inhabitants of city are able to take pleasure in two rain-free national holidays in the approaching months.
The Moscow administration wants to provide good weather for the holidays are Victory Day which falls on May 9 and Russia Day of June 12.These days are celebrated with mass gathering and parades in open.
On Thursday,a notification posted on Russia’s state tender website invited bids from the companies for the project “meteorological protection for the city". However, the technology of cloud dispersal or cloud seeding is as old as the Soviet era. It involves use of materials including silver iodide, cement powder and dry ice.
The successful bidder company who gets this contract shall be paid nearly 121 million rubles ($3.9 million) for the job done.
Meanwhile, residents around the city have reported that this exercise may benefit Moscow residents but time and again shoves any eventual poor weather over these areas.
