Governor N.N. Vohra inaugurates 10th JK Science Congress

Jammu, March 14, (Scoop News)- N.N. Vohra, Governor, today inaugurated the 10th JK Science Congress which has been organized by the University of Jammu in collaboration with the J&K State Council for Science and Technology at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium. Around 500 participants from various educational and research related institutions will present their research papers on the theme of “Science and Technology for Inclusive Development: A Way Forward” in this 3-day Congress.
The Governor urged the scientific community to focus on enhancing and applying scientific knowledge to reduce poverty at the grass root level. He said that research should be oriented for finding solutions of the day to day problems of the people at large.
The Governor stressed the need to evolve technologies by utilizing local resources to improve the lives of people in general and the marginalized sections of society in particular. He urged the scientific community to unfold and augment technological innovations for inclusive development.
The Governor suggested well co-ordinated and synergized efforts by all the universities in the State for exploiting the rich potential which exists in Key Strength Areas like horticulture, organic farming, fisheries, poultry etc. He also shared his concern over the changing weather patterns and the resulting advance impact on the future economy of the State.
The Governor presented Young Scientist Awards to 11 scientists on the occasion and spoke to each of them to know the nature of the researches being undertaken by them.
