Heroes star Hayden Panettiere got into the inaugural spirit yesterday, attending the ‘We Are the Future’ Concert with friends and family as part of the elaborate festivities leading up to Tuesday’s inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
Panettiere, 19, chatted with friends and ate french fries while she watched Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and Bow Wow perform on stage.
Wearing in black boots, leggings and flowing, bohemian skirt, Panettiere was dressed down. A few fans from Georgetown University asked the former We Are the Titans actress if she had time to celebrate but she declined, citing plans to attend the Green Inaugural Ball that evening. Panettiere also refused to take pictures with fans during the event.
The newly-political Panettiere has caused a splash with her recent calls for protection of endangered whale species, a cause she spoke out on at the Green Ball later that night.
At the Green Ball, Panattiere said she’s even spoken to President-elect Obama on the cause. “I’ve actually talked to him about it before. He was raised in Hawaii, so I think he would agree with me, " she said, but added that “I’m not going to speak for him.”
