Srinagar, June 12 (Scoop News) –The House Committee (HC)of Legislative Assembly constituted “to ascertain the factual position regarding the illegal encroachment of wetland for its conversion for residential purposes in Srinagar, Baramulla and Badipora districts” on Tuesday directed the officers of Settlement and Revenue department to speedy up the settlement process of wetlands at Shalteng and its adjoining areas within 10 km radius falling within the administrative jurisdiction of Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora districts and submit its report to the committee for its examination.
The Committee, which met today under the Chairmanship of MLA Mir Saffullah with its members Nizam-ud-Din Bhat and Syeed Bhasharat Ahmad Bukhari, decided that it will meet in its next meeting on June 21.
The Committee asked the concerned to furnish the details of the wetland in question with its present status i.e conversion of agriculture and Khacharai land for residential and commercial purposes.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon, District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, G. A. Khwaja, District Development Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director Land Records Kashmir, Officers of Settlement, Revenue department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
