Huckabee Wants Debate With McCain Before March 4 Contests

GOP underdog candidate Mike Huckabee had that he hopes that GOP frontrunner John McCain will rethink his doubts about engaging in another debate. Huckabee has said that a debate between himself and McCain will be in the best interests in the voters before the March 4 contests do take place.

On Tuesday, February 26, Mike Huckabee issued a challenge to John McCain to a debate that would be Lincoln-Douglas style. Huckabee’s campaign sent several invitations out after hearing that McCain using an excuse that he had not received any invite to attend any future GOP debates.

Then Huckabee was asked about McCain and the incident with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). He said that he could not answer the question and said that it would be up to the court to decide it. Huckabee then said that the finance bill would probably come back to bite McCain as he was the one that pushed the law on campaign financing.

Huckabee would say that he is staying in the GOP race until a candidate scores 1,191 delegates, which is the magic number to grab the GOP nomination.

He then addressed the picture of US Democratic hopeful and frontrunner Barack Obama in the traditional Somali dress. Huckabee said that he did not see the press release about Obama. However, Huckabee did say that it was common for politicians to be wearing something in accordance to the local custom. He would also say that this photo had nothing to do with the presidential race.

But it remains, Huckabee refuses to drop out of the race and wants to have a debate with McCain before the March 4 contests.
