Jammu and Kashmir: Altaf Kaloo, MLC, NC resented against
establishment of diploma of engineering college being established out of
district headquarters. Taking serious note for locating ITI College out of
reach to the aspirants, Altaf said that instead of central place, authorities
have shifted the institution to far away place which could cause inconvenience
to the students in by and large. He affirmed that within the headquarter area
of Anantnag lang required is available in plenty but for unknown reasons the
institution was shifted to Larkipora far away from the main town. He informed
that as per the guide lines the institution should be within the 10 Kms of
district headquarters but in this regard, destination is more than 15
kilometers.
Polytechnic college among 18 proposed for the entire state
is supposed to come at Larkipora at 90 kanals of land at a cost of Rs 2.12
crores, as per government proposal but the fact of matter is that land being available
in the town of government but why the institution is being shifted from
district headquarters to a far-flung area is a datable question, Kuloo
informed.
Earlier, raising the question in legislative assembly,
Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohd. Syeed also endorsed the point of Kuloo
and asked the government to address the issue as per suggestions of MLC.
However, Minister for Youth Sports and Services and Technical Education, R. S
