Gulmarg/Srinagar,December 31 (Scoop News) –Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) at Gulmarg trained 30 local youth in Housekeeping skills at the Institute premises.
The successful students were given certificates and financial incentive by Yashvir Singh, Director Finance, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
J S Dhillon, Principal, IISM told that these boys were trained under the Govt sponsored scheme of “HUNNER-SE-ROZGAR”. They were trained in basic lessons of housekeeping, cleaning process, bed making, upkeep and maintenance of the rooms etc. Some of the boys have been gainfully employed after the training.
Singh said that skill taught to the trainees will also improve their confidence and quality of life. Dhillon said that though the mandate of the Institute is to run adventure courses, this was the first time that Ministry of Tourism has given them a new task to train the local youth in housekeeping. The Institute has discharged this responsibility very successfully and trainees were happy & fully satisfied with the training. Institute plans to conduct more such courses during the next summer.
