Jammu, December 8, (Scoop News) -There are 39 core attributes of India relevant in its foreign policy for the national interest, says Professor Varun Sahni, former vice chancellor of University of Jammu.
“India as an emerging poweer, regional power, nuclear power, continental power, cultural and a developing economy besides a largest largest democracy etc which are relevant in conserving our policies of external affairs”, Sahni elaborated.

“They (Chinese) teach Hindi to school going children in their schools”, Sahni told while delivering a key note address at 4th Sat Pal Sahni Memorial Lecture organised by Jammu and Kashmir Regional branch of Institute of Public Administration in Jammu on Saturday evening.
India should form cooperation and act as a catalyst between United States and China instead of supporting or aligning with any one of these two countries, he suggested adding that idealogical weapon and cultural power could greatly help in a successful foreign policy.
Prof Sahni also highlighted the importance of India diaspora on this front.
“Our cinema, music and yoga are our globally recoganised USP and the same can act as our cultural weapons. On the other hand, Chinese cultural aspect is very difficult to be accepted by other cultures”, he observed.
Describing Pakistan and China as most likely adversaries, which share land border with India, Prof Sahni emphasised for developing nuclear deterence vis a vis these two neighbours.
