India has assured Italy that it will stand on its committment of not pressing charges of murder against two Italian marines who returned to India on March 22.
Salman Khurshid,Minister of external affairs,however,had announced after their return to India that they will neither be arrested nor tried for murder charges
However,the NIA has registered murder charges against the two Marines for allegedly killing two fishermen off the coast in Kerala.
On Monday ,Union Home Minister R.K Singh told reporters,"we will honour whatever assurance given to Italy"
He further said that under Indian justice system the case of two marines does not fall under the category of crimes which call for death penalty.
