The team of aerobatic planes took of from Begumpet military air base in the heart of Hyderabad city, at about 11.40am on 3rd March’ 2010 and the accident occurred 15 minutes later when the planes dived from the formation to go in different directions (and failed to pull up) as a part of a show to mark the ‘Indian Aviation 2010’ exposition.

As per military sources both the commander and co-pilot had enough experience of aerial shows. The commander had an experience of 17 years while the co-pilot was commissioned in the Navy in 1996. The pilots could not bail out probably due to lack of time and died instantly when the plane hit a building. Chunks of concrete from the building crushed three cars parked on the road killing a civilian and injuring three others who are being treated at Secunderabad military hospital.
