INDIANS DISMAYED – OVER APPEASING RAJAPAKSES BROUGHT THE CHINA THREAT TO INDIA’S ‘SOFT UNDERBELLY’ – DELHI’S FOREIGN POLICIES STRANGLED BY SOUTH BLOCK OFFICIALS IMPLICATED IN SL CRIMES
Delhi’s inability to counteract these two interrelated but deeply disturbing developments to all dharmic Indians was the product of the policy failures caused by Delhi South Block (SB) Narayanan, Menon (and Pranab) sharing deep anti-Tamil prejudice. The SB duo colluded with SL to effectively invite the China threat to India’s underbelly to allegedly check potential separatist’s tendencies amongst the restive Tamil Nadu Tamilians. Delhi used another bogey; to save the Delhi Keralite mafia officials for alleged involvement in the SL massacre. These strangle Delhi’s Indo-SL policies. SL’s professions of friendship are shallow and self serving to disguise SL’s ingratitude despite the support that Delhi extended to assure SL victory over the LTTE.
The weak political oversight (under UPA rule) over the Delhi’s SB officials encouraged these ominous developments destructive to India’s interests to flourish; a pathetic reflection on the caliber of Delhi UPA leaders. Colombo leaders outclassed their Delhi counterparts exploiting the contradictions in Delhi’s policy making to effectively hold Delhi to ransom. The short sighted lust of Sonia/Manmohan Singh (the latter’s Bushism ‘there are no good and bad terrorists’) to destroy LTTE fighting a genocide for the alleged killing of a Rajiv ended up in their becoming victims of the manipulative anti-Tamil (Dravida) obsessions of the SB officials, Narayanan/Shiv Shankar Menon. These SB officials doctored a Rajapakse appeasement policy to please a Sonia bent on avenging the Tamils for Rajiv’s death. This policy created an inextricable log jam for Delhi also perpetuating SB’s strangle-hold preventing changes to Delhi’s failed SL over-appeasement policy.
M’kal Menon followed past (Narayanan) precedents; with a visit to the TN CM before the Colombo visits for the usual double talk one for Tamilians on redressing the plight of the Eelam Tamils-a continuing deception, concealing the team’s real mission; plotting with Colombo on a strategy to sabotage progress on the UN’s SL crimes initiatives. This further deprives the Tamil victims of the only recourse they have to save their lives from the continuing SL genocide. About this time M’kal Narayanan also reportedly visited the TN CM to re-inforce Menon’s pretences; confirming his Mullivaykal massacre baggage and vested interest to ensure that the Delhi team’s stance on the ‘expert teams’ report does not provoke SL into openly implicate the SB officials in SL’s crimes. The Delhi teams’ visit was a response to the clever 13 Amendment+ bait that Peiris SL Foreign Minister dangled in his post Delhi visit statement. A gullible Delhi fell for it. Delhi keeping a stilled silence over the UN ‘export panel’ report was to buy in return SL’s silence over SB’s involvement in SL’s crimes; revealing Delhi addiction for a deals culture. SL also smartly slipped in its repudiation of devolving police and land powers included in the 13 Amendment + Peiris’ statement. Sufficient time wasn’t allocated to re-inforce Delhi’s concerns over the TN fishermen’s plight. Colombo took this as Delhi’s implicit nod to continue to attack and take into custody encroaching TN boats and fishermen. The fishermen episode occurred within a few days of the much hyped up Colombo visit. The results of the visit overall were a massive humiliating slap for the SB team and Delhi.
Once the news of the May 2009 Mullivaykal massacres surfaced, within a couple of days Gothabhaya hurriedly released his ‘in the loop’ hint (gifting its friend Delhi a share of the Mullivaykkal massacre guilt). SL’s action follows its distress over the leaks of information on the massacres. B Raman as SL’s long standing apologist in OutlookIndia June 2009 assuages SL’s distress by be-littling the size of the casualty, claiming that according to his ‘tom tom’ source the killings were not as high as revealed by Western sources! The credibility of Raman like that of his SL counterpart Rohan Gunaratne ended up in tatters following the UN ‘expert panel’ report and Channel 4 June 2011 Sri Lanka Killing Fields broadcast.
‘Sri Lanka – alleged conflict of interests that seriously compromise NSA Menon’s and UN Nambiar’s role’ in Groundreport of 14 June 14, 2011, examines Delhi’s policies driven by the SB Narayanan/Menon duo who carry deep anti-Tamil prejudices also shared by the Rajapakses. Underlying the vehement platitudes of Indian friendship that Sinhala Buddhist leaders indulge in, overfriendly when in dire straits, (after LTTE’s battle successes, the UN ‘expert panel’ report) anti-Indianism is ingrained in their psyche. This surfaces instantly beginning with Kotalawela shouting insults at Nehruji across the conference hall in Bali in the 1950’s to a naval rating attacking Rajiv with the rifle butt at a public guard of honour function in 1987. Historical distrust of Indians not just Tamilians is embedded in Buddhist Sinhala mindset. The emptiness in SL’s professions of ‘friendship’ was again evident when the recent hyped up top level team to Colombo returned empty handed and had no post visit statement; deeply humiliating Delhi.
Interesting quotes from Gomin Dayasiri, a confidant of the Rajapakses confirms SL’s anti-Indianism. These are relevant to open the eyes of Indian leaders whom Narayanan/Menon coached Sinhala leaders to derisively view them as ‘fools and clowns’. ‘Genie of the 13th was released by an eerie spirit of India’, Dixit ‘over reached.. with a regal show of arrogance in a stellar performance of an Ugly Indian’.. ‘To the Indians , life is cheap. ..Sri Lankans know the true face of India with its warts and moles’, ’…Prabhaharan as the Indian whip to lash Sri Lanka’,..India is playing for pride with their brain(less)child, the 13th ..Is it to keep all its neighbours weakened with thorny domestic issues?.. on the IPKF ‘..Indians shattered the pride of our Forces with a show of jawan arrogance’. Are these words that flow out of true friends?
Since May 2009 SL dismissed with disdain Delhi’s appeasing gestures forgetting the Keralite mafia’s ‘fire free zone’, barb wire fenced ‘internment camps’ ideas, supplies of firepower and manpower, RAW overflight intelligence, all invaluable for the total defeat of the LTTE. The horrors caused by Narayanan’s ‘fire free zone’ brainwave were graphically portrayed in Channel 4’s Sri Lanka Killing Fields. Of comparable monstrosity is Narayanan’s ‘internment camps’ idea. Yet Delhi, under the Keralite mafia’s stranglehold, is obliged to support genocide SL (after its outrageous UNHRC vote in May 2009) and now effectively agreeing to share the M’kal massacre guilt to the dismay of dharmic Indians. To dharmic Indians who believe in the Yuththa (war) dharma taught in the epics Mahabharatha and Ramayana the demonic deeds of Colombo/Delhi portrayed in Channel 4 Sri Lanka Killing Fields would have been repulsive even to Ravana himself portrayed as the evil demon in the epics. That the values of the Keralite SB mafia are so debased to pressure Delhi UPA leaders to observe silence over the SL genocide horrors shocked almost the entire humanity. This is bound to shock dharmic Indians immersed in puranic values. Peiris ‘Some foreign nations asked for an international tribunal against Sri Lanka. But India never supported it. It is a reason for satisfaction..Sri Lanka had India’s support whenever the need arose’, even when they commit crimes. The ‘why’ for this, baffles most.
Under the UPA rule SL’s killer values are commended and the killer Rajapakses are amorously courted that more and more dharmic Indians are wondering why. ‘The message to stop appeasing genocide SL is reinforced by the voice of the people who delivered a massive defeat for the Congress in TN (in May 2011) The … evidence on SL’s crimes that Channel 4 is relaying once it reaches the vast majority of dharmic Indians especially TN Tamilians will bring about changes in political persuasions that will re-shape Indo-SL policies in a direction far from comfortable for Colombo. This may persuade Colombo into giving up attempting to brow beat Delhi much further to pander to its whims and fancies. In this changed environment for the misfits NSA Shiv Shankar Menon’s (and Narayanans‘s) SL appeasement policies have no place; it will show up as grave adharmic acts/mistakes…’ TN CM was forthright in condemning the Rajapakses for crimes as reported in the ‘expert panel’; the voice of a leader of standing who with others in TN like Seeman, Vaiko, Nedumaran, the Communists and BJP leaders has the strength to bring about the change (ending over appeasing SL) dharmic Indians seek.
The learned Suryanarayanan in his recent piece ‘Sri Lanka – Myths and Realities’ in SAAG 25 May 2011 vigorously calls for such a change in Indo-SL Policies’, urging Delhi ‘not to bail out Sri Lanka in the United Nations …On the contrary it should raise its voice in support of the suffering Tamils .. their feelings and agony should be reflected in the utterances of the Indian representatives in the United Nations..The Tamils in the heavily militarized North continue to endure from the continuing genocide’. While Delhi heartlessly avoided comment Suryanarayanan and other reputable analysts endorsed the ‘expert panel’ findings rejecting SL’s outrageous claims that not a single civilian was killed in Mullivaykal and the starving 320 000 civilians who came out of the war zone that were herded straight into M’kal Narayanan’s barb wire fenced internment camps was a ‘humanitarian operation’. Brahma Chellany’s insights in ‘Behind Sri Lankan Bloodbath’ in Mainstream Weekly 24 October 2009 ‘Consequently, Colombo is going to be less inclined than before to listen to New Delhi. Indeed the manner in which Colombo played the China and Pakistan cards in recent years to outsmart India is likely to remain an enduring feature of Sri Lanka diplomacy making Sri Lanka a potential springboard for anti-India maneuvers’ ; how very perceptive and timely. SB officials prefer to leave behind a Sonia appeasement legacy not Indraji’s legacy of a tamed SL. Even in Indraji’s time the Tamil issue festered and SL-China ties were strong; both sharing a Buddhist heritage and economic ties dating back to the Rubber-Rice pact years in the 1950s. Now that SL’s anti-Indianism is known to be in-bred shouldn’t Delhi act to pull Colombo into line as Indraji did? There are sound reasons to believe ‘Gothabhaya’s ‘in the loop’ snipes soon after M’kal massacres (the gutsy Gothabhaya elaborated on this in the ‘Defeating Terrorism’ seminar when SL had to pull Delhi into line to counteract Delhi abrasively exploiting SL’s ‘expert panel’ report predicament. Colombo acted to terrify the Narayanan duo into seeking cover for their role in the SL crimes by getting Delhi to commit to continued unconditional support for SL
The estimate of Tamils killed brutally based on Mullivaykkal and the narrow coastline casualties is low when many other mini-Mullivaykkal killings in Kilinochchi, Puthukudiiruppu and elsewhere are accounted for. An eye witness account recounted by Caitlin Moran (The Time) how the three feet deep trenches provided little protection against shells aimed from fighter craft hitting. ‘Initially shells would be dropped usually killing those too old, weak or young to take shelter in time. Then they would await ten minutes – until people gathered around the dead or dying loved ones, trying to save them, or weeping over them – and then shell for a second time; thus wiping out whole families in 11 minutes flat’. Are these SL’s compassionate humanitarian acts? Another report recounts killings that occurred in Kilinochchi in January 2009 as narrated to diaspora visitors and appearing in groundreport.com June 02, 2011. ‘There were repeated low flying bombings of civilians sheltering in sand trenches killing as many as 24 out 28 in one spot alone ..Civilians fearful of such trench killings began to flee east behind retreating resistance forces. Are these civilians following the fleeing LTTE fighters human shields. Even had there been human shield civilians in the fighting zone ‘this does not in any way lessen the government’s culpability’ Callum Macrae 13 June 2011 the guardian.
Where does the above leave Raman SL’s long standing apologist who chipped in to belittle the M’kal massacres childishly questioning the numbers killed using his ‘tom tom’ source instead of sources that everyone one else relied on. Raman belongs to that class of Indian apologists who’s pedestrian ‘appease SL at any cost’ message proves Gomin Dayasiri’s assertion ‘to Indians life in cheap’ especially Tamil lives, massacre or no massacre. His blatant appease SL piece in SAAG recently does not earn the grade to qualify for any comments or analysis.
