Srinagar May 17 (Scoop News) –J&K Minister for Technical Education, Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R.S. Chib today impressed upon engineering fraternity to update their knowledge to keep pace with advanced science and technology.

Chib further said that the technocrats and professionals in engineering as well as medical science play pivotal role in transformation of society, adding that their status and dignity needs to be maintained by way of encouragement. Stressing for broadening horizons of knowledge, Chib asked faculty members of polytechnics and other technical institution to go for refresher courses to improve and update their knowledge for the betterment of student community.
Speaking about the achievements registered by the Government in the technical education sector, Chib said that six polytechnics are already functioning in the State and 18 new such colleges are being set up during next five years, besides new ITI’s are also being established in every district to provide better technical education at the door step of students, living in urban as well as rural and remote areas of the state.
Chib announced that the construction of new Polytechnics will commence shortly as the land identification process and besides formalities have been completed for the purpose.
Principal of the College, while speaking on the occasion said that K.G. polytechnic is a legendary institution, being awarded as the best polytechnic college by Union Human Resource Development Ministry is imparting training to the students in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and telecommunication, leather technology and other advanced courses. She said that social upliftment and skill development programmes are other activities being carried out by the institution for socio-economic development of the people.
She also thanked the Minister for evincing keen interest in the functioning of the polytechnic and also for encouraging the faculty and students of the college.
