Per CNN, the Iranian government blocked access to social networking Web site Facebook on Saturday, just three weeks ahead of the June 12 presidential elections. Opponents of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election bid had been using the site, according to government officials.
Twitterers in Tehran reported early Saturday that Facebook wasn’t the only social network banned. Twitter was apparently down as well, though it has since returned.
Tweets suggest Iranians are furious about the ban:
