Floating an idea for constitution of a society to run the affairs of the Club and election of a Non-Government President, the Chief Minister said that it is very difficult for a Chief Minister to devote its time to the welfare of the Club as its President. “I am sharing this idea with you simply as a thought. It is not any suggestion or proposal”, he maintained and said that Non-Government Management and President would devote fullest time to the Club affairs. He said he wants to see Amar Singh Club functioning like Delhi Jumkhana or Dilhi Golf Club.
Omar Abdullah said that the Government would provide matching grants to the Club equal to the funds it raises from its own sources for the establishment of health club. The Chief Minister donated Rs. 20000 for this purpose out of his own pocket as a Member of the Club and asked other members to raise the funds to the maximum they can do in this regard.
The Chief Minister said that Government would extent all support to the Club for its infrastructural development and expanding social activities. He said that Amar Singh Club also had the affect of disturbances in the State during the 20 years and witnessed bad time like other concerns. “Hopefully better days are ahead and the Club will also witness progress along with other sectors in the State”, he added.
