The Governor, N. N. Vohra, has greeted the people on Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In a message of greetings, the Governor described Islam as the religion of peace and said that the holy day marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose life was an embodiment of love, equality and brotherhood.
The Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has also felicitated people on the eve of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) wishing them happiness and prosperity.
In a message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that Milad days provide us opportunity to pray and seek forgiveness and blessings from the Almighty for the entire mankind.
“Let the day be harbinger of peace and development for the State”, Omar prayed.
Education Minister, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, Tourism Minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for Medical Education, R. S. Chib and Minister of State for power, Shabir Ahmad Khan has felicitated the people of State especially Muslim community on the eve of Eid-I-Millad-ul-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH).
In their messages, the Ministers said that preaching’s of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) guide us to follow the righteous path of truth, tolerance, brotherhood, amity and communal harmony to lead a peaceful and prosperous life. They said that teachings of such great prophets have greater relevance today when the whole world is caught in the web of uncertainty, disorder and perplexity.
Praying for peace, progress and tranquillity, the Ministers hoped that this auspicious occasion will add new colours of love, peace and brotherhood to the social fabric of the state.
Peoples Democratic Party Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and President Mehbooba Mufti extended their greeting on the eve of Milad u Nabi ( SAW) to the people of the state and the Muslim brethren in particular.
In a massage the two leaders hoped that the teachings , Hadith and Uthwah ( Uswa-e Hassana) of the prophet is the righteous path for humanity to survive with peace and tranquility. And Islam is the only way for peace in the world. "the Prophet gave us the message of compassion towards all fellow beings and hoped that these cherished values would continue to guide humanity for all times to come." They added.
Among other leaders who extended their greetings include Mohammed Dilawar Mir , Molvi Iftikhar Ansari, Mohd Sartaj Madni, Mohd Khalil Bandh, Ab Razaq Zawoora, Ab Rehman Veeri, Ab Hameed Kosheen, M Ashraf Mir, Youth general Secretary, Showkat Gayoor, and others.

Extending felicitations to the people, especially Muslim community, Gul hoped that the day will add to the peace and prosperity of the state, besides further cementing the bonds of love, amity and brotherhood among different sections of the society.
Describing Prophet (PBUH) as the spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of Islam, Gul said that He was an apostle of love, tolerance and brotherhood who treated all human beings with the same heart and fought against social evils. He appealed the people to follow the preaching’s of Prophet (PBUH) to liberate the society from the present chaos and confusion.
Earlier, the Advisor visited Dargah Hazratbal and took stock of the arrangements made by the divisional administration for the devotees. He was informed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for convenience of the devotees and smooth conduct of this religious occasion.
