The Governor was briefed by. T. Angchok, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, about the immediate measures taken for the restoration of public utility services like drinking water and power supply, healthcare services, road connectivity, telecommunication, irrigation infrastructure, availability of essential commodities, other required rehabilitation measures, etc. The Governor stressed the need for formulating an itemized action plan and then ensuring its time-bound implementation, particularly in regard to the reconstruction of homes. Interalia, this would involve ready access to all required construction materials in view of the limited time available before the onset of winter season. He said that for this purpose, the high altitude and far-flung areas should be serviced first of all.
The DC, Leh informing the Governor about the obtaining stock position of food grains in the district, said that all efforts are underway to secure the timely supply of construction materials, food grains and other essential commodities. The Governor asked the Deputy Commissioner and the District Police Superintendent to establish a pragmatic mechanism for timely dissemination of any news from any source, about a natural or man made calamity, particularly in regard to the remote areas of the district to enable the Administration to launch most immediate rescue and relief operations.
