Kenyans are swimming in rivers of blood. The Electoral Commission of Kenya declared Mwai Kibaki the winner on the presidential election on the 30th December 2007, but the commission latter admitted of the flaws in the tallying of the results, further they conflicted the situation through its chairman Samuel Kivuitu by saying they did not know who won the election, these two sentiments have further worsen the situation, causing the lack of the credibility of the ECK and true democracy which has resulted to a state anarchy.
Furthermore, this alone has made the death toll appallingly high, adding that more than 1200 people had already lost their lives and estimated 500,000 people have been displaced from their beautiful homes. Much of the violence or escalation appears to have been directed to Kibaki community. It appears that the 42 tribes in Kenya had turned against the Kibaki tribe having been declared the winner of the general election, following the massive rigging which was also questioned by international observers especially the European Union, the United States, International Media and Local Media, and the Republic of Kenyans in particular.
The ECK credibility was questioned having given a flawed-rigged verdict result to the hungry Kenyans who had voted in large numbers to bring radical change; change they have been dreaming for since independence 1963, and the change they have been singing for during the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) campaigns all over the country. According to most reliable sources, the events of the four day before election were a culmination of a well-calculated and brilliantly executed plot that was hatched at least two years ago to keep Mwai Kibaki in power.
The Kenya referendum of 2005, which was won by Raila Odinga’s Orange democratic Movement (ODM), left no doubt in the Kibaki Court that truly there was little to hope for Kibaki of winning the 2007 general election. In most of the polling stations, Kibaki used his administration to rig him even in his constituency which he was very much sure that he had to win.
Two months ago, Raila Odinga hinted that the government was already using her machineries in rigging the election even before the election date was declared by the ECK. Sources have confirmed as true allegations which were raised by Raila Odinga, one media station in Kenya sourced the information through their investigative journalism and screened some Administration Police (AP’s) who offered to betray the government by revealing the real picture on how the election papers and ballot boxes were being doctored in one of their officers house in Nairobi, the officer quoted also how some members of the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS), and a section of Kenya Armed Forces being used to cause chaos in ODM stronghold areas to scare voters so that they can rig in the government preferred candidates for both civic, parliamentary and more votes for Kibaki.
From the source this officers were very loyal to Kibaki administration and were drilled in on how to conduct an election rigging, and where funds from the security services were used to buy electoral clerks and returning officers of the ECK, this also proved to public how the Kibaki administration was full of dirty men and thieves, corrupt and tyrant. Following this sad news, the potential for further more bloodshed remains high unless the political crisis is quickly resolved. In most parts of the country especially in the ODM stronghold provinces like Western, Rift valley, Coast, Nairobi and Nyanza people have been butchered, some people were burnt in forest, churches and others were evicted in their homes killed and buried unknowingly, all this casualties the government order for police shoot to kill has shot more than 200 people dead who were peacefully demonstrating and protesting due to unduly justice over the disputed election result.
“My son and daughter were killed during the violence and suddenly I lost everything to my attackers. Now I have nowhere to go, nothing to eat, and no clothes to change. My future is in limbo” says Anne Wairimu in Kisumu police station, waiting to be transported to safety places under police escort. Arsonist has continued in burning houses, schools, homes, churches and vehicles all over the country. In another bizarre scenario more people were burnt live with both children in a church which appeared more genocidal. The attackers who targeted that had been vacated by those fleeing political violence in the area passive to be ODM stronghold looted properties including supermarkets and multilateral business stores.
Nevertheless, In another scenario emerged immediately four days later after Kibaki was declared the winner, several bodies approximately 12 were exhumed by police having received reports from the bereaved families who were affected by the current political violence over there missing siblings believed to be killed politically, the police later did investigation and found a big mass grave where bodies were buried secretly in a thickly forest in Mt Elgon district, a small town in western Kenya where civil strife and battle for land has been for many decades. The political violence has really affected the economy of the country which was just recuperating having been looted by the Moi’s cronies beyond recognition.
The democracy which Kenyans have fought for many years to remove the country from one party state to a multiparty democracy since the republic attained independence in 1963, has now turned to dictatorial kind of leadership. And as the mass action gears on the general nation continue to suffer and the government continue to lose, as no work continue, government and business remained locked for the political violence and lack of workers or civil servants who fear traveling to towns with political temperatures and soon Kenya will face the mighty of inflation and humanitarian crisis. Because Kibaki has refused to listen the will and the hungry and angered call of the people of Kenya. The more the battle looms… the more bodies swimming in the rivers of blood. Before we see what took place in Rwanda, let’s solve this once for all, it is not yet too late, neither too early to bring truth on the table, since we believe that an hungry justice must win, to restore democracy of the people and peace back to the people of Kenya, they need justice and justice must be done. May justice be the shield and defender for the people of Kenya.
