Knight Riders have lost three of their five games and Royal Challengers four and it will probably need a miracle from hereon for both teams to stay in contention for a semifinal berth.
The only hope for the two sides is that teams like Chennai, Jaipur and Mohali have found it tough too and if things suddenly start falling in place, the tables can turn very fast. For both Knight Riders and Royal Challengers, it’s virtually a do-or-die situation. Both the teams understand the fact that if they lose on Wednesday, it’ll be a long road back for them. Off-field controversies have affected the Knight Riders from the beginning of the tournament and that has clearly had an impact on the team’s performance.
Be it the debate over having multiple captains or the mystery blogger, Shah Rukh’s boys have had little or no respite from these problems. It’s evident that the team lacks purpose and all the rival teams are aiming at are the wickets of Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle and Sourav Ganguly to take charge against the Knights. The rest of the line-up lacks the spine to deliver in South African conditions.
