Confusion and deception are Satan’s main tools to try and get you to worship and obey him, rather than God.
Why do we as simple mortal beings, permit confusion into our lives, when God desires our lives to be direct and simple, and straight-forward?
Jesus tells us that the path is narrow, but if we stick to it, we cannot fail. We can apply this to our daily lives, as well as our path to salvation and heaven.
How often have you heard someone be they a teen, or, an adult say to you;
“I don’t know who I am.” Or,
“I’m trying to find myself.” Or,
“I don’t know what my purpose is in life.” Or,
“Why don’t I fit in? All I want is for others to like me and be accepted.”
I must have heard these, more than a thousand times from others, teens and adults alike, and I have yet to understand exactly what it is they are trying to discover about themselves.
When I hear these, from someone regardless of age, the first thing I usually do is to stand them in front of a mirror, and ask them;
“What do you see? The usual response I get is, “I see me”, so I ask them again; What do you see?
They look at me as if I’m either not listening, or, that I’m a little bit nuts, and again their response is, “I see me, I see my reflection in a mirror.”
So then I ask them; “Who is that in the mirror?”
Again they look at me perplexed, puzzled by the question being asked.
And the normal response is; “It’s me.”
So like a dentist pulling a tooth, I have to ask;
“And who is me?
To which they respond with their given name, be it Paul or Paula or Mike or Michelle, or whatever their name happens to be.
So then I point out to them, they have answered their first two statements, plain and simple. You are who you are. And you are standing right here.
I can then explain to them, okay, so you now know who you are, but, more importantly you are a “Child of God” a God who loves you as you are ,but will improve you, if you ask him to, and a God who wishes to walk side by side with you through every step you take in your life, and desires that you have the very best that you need, be it knowledge or wisdom, a good career, so that you can become the very best at whatever God has chosen for you, or whatever you desire to become.
Most of the time, our choice is what God has wanted for us, only we think we make the decision, not God.
You are a unique individual, created in the image of Almighty God himself.
They ask me; “How can this be true?”
So I then explain to them.
God is spirit God is spirit, the spirit of love.
You too are a spirit merely transferred into human form.
God created you as “Spirit” God places you in human form, and as he breathes into you the breath of life, your body receives a soul.
This soul is what the Holy Spirit and Satan try to control while you are alive, trying to determine what will happen to you as a spirit, at the time of death. We ultimately choose our path, depending upon the influence from both. We must freely choose though.
As spirit your image and God’s are identical, so when you look into that mirror, even though you see your human face, you as spirit, look upon the face of God.
You can be whatever you choose to become, and, when you involve God, you will become the very best at whatever you choose whether that’s a doctor, or a lawyer, or a dentist, or a musician, or an actor, or an astronaut, or, whatever you might choose. God will help you to become the very best at whatever you choose to become, or, you can even choose to let God choose, for he knows best, where you will fit into his plans for you.
Almighty God can, and will, share with you, his love, his patience, his graces, his wealth, whatever you require and need. And all you have to do is ask God to come into your life and be willing to be his child and do for him as any child would do for their father to please their father.
You also said you are trying to find yourself. You also know where you are. You are not lost, merely permitting yourself to be confused and misdirected.
Satan the devil, is a master of confusion and deception, and misdirection.
Satan is a liar, a cheater, and, a murderer.
Why would anyone want to follow his guidance?
He likes nothing more than to get someone all twisted around, until he can get them doing things that go against God and God’s will. Satan can and does use scripture, God’s Word, twisting it. He did this with Adam and Eve, when he quoted God and then told Eve, that God lied, that she would not die. Eve, not knowing any better, believed Satan. Little did Eve know, that the death God was referring to was a “Spiritual Death” for by disobeying God’s command, sin was introduced, and sin meant that spiritually one died in the eyes of God.
We can best understand this if we remember Jesus crying out to the Father, as he hung on the cross. “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me. God the Father, had to turn his back to Jesus, as the sins of man were heaped upon Jesus. Sin any sin is so disgusting and vile to God, because it goes against his nature for God is a God of respect and love.
Every time I have been faced with difficult decisions or hardships, or, sickness, or injury, or whatever it be that I cannot think of a solution to, it is my practice always , to offer it up to God, and place it in his hands for him to handle, and then I simply walk away from it and forget it. It may be immediately, or it may take a week, or a month, or however long it takes God to sort it out, but God finds his solution and then shares it with me. But until then, it is out of sight and out of mind. I never give it another thought or care.
MARK: 12: 29-31; “The first of all the commandments is, Hear O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”
In other words, first you must love God, because God is your creator, then you must love yourself, for you cannot love your neighbor, if you do not first love yourself and respect yourself. Jesus later tells us that we are to love our enemies, which is even more difficult, especially if we do not love ourselves.
