Jammu,September 12 (Scoop News)-Panun Kashmir today expressed serious concern over the humanitarian situation arising in Jagti Township in relation to the day to day problems of electricity, water, health, transportation and education.
Panun Kashmir held a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee today at Jammu. The meeting was chaired by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President-PK. Virender Raina, National Spokesperson, Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, J.L.Kaul, Vice President, Kamal Bagati, Organising Secretary, N.M.Gadroo and Vijay Qazi attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the serious humanitarian situation arising in Jagti Township in relation to the day to day problems of electricity, water, health, transportation and education. The matter regarding enhancement of relief has also assumed serious dimension in view of escalating prices and inflation. It has become very difficult for the people dependent upon relief to make both ends meet.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President-Panun Kashmir, while addressing the meeting, said that in the days to come, Panun Kashmir would adopt specific strategies to highlight the problems of the relief holders at appropriate forums. The demand for enhancement of relief is very just and rightful as these people are the primary victims of genocide and exodus from Kashmir. It is an acute humanitarian problem and the government has to take cognizance of the same. There is a need to intensify the agitation particularly during the forthcoming Assembly session in Kashmir. Instead of politicking on the issue there is a need to close the ranks and come on the streets and agitate for the redressal of grievances. The insensitive policies of the government have marginalized the Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities in the socio-political spectrum of the state.
Virender Raina, National Spokesperson said that it is surprising that when a cabinet decision regarding enhancement of relief to Rupees ten thousand was made, why the same has not been implemented till date. There is need to implement this decision immediately in order to instill confidence in the displaced community that the government is sensitive towards their sufferings. It is disheartening that the government seems to be more concerned about the rehabilitation of the POK returned terrorists instead of the victims of terrorism. Dragging its feet in the implementation of its own decisions reflects very poorly on the functioning of the government. The time has come for the government to wake itself from deep slumber and announce a massive relief package for the displaced community. As an immediate step, relief needs to be enhanced as per the decision of the cabinet to Rupees Ten thousand.
