If you were playing the Mega Millions jackpot recently, sorry, you are out of luck. Those that were playing for this $57 million jackpot, they lost to 45 year old Fred Topous, Jr, or Lansing, Michigan. Of course winning a hefty jackpot is a big deal. But, someone winning the lottery is not normally something big to be mentioned in a media outlet such as Time Magazine.
However, this is not the case.
Topous was released from the Michigan Department of Corrections back in October of 2006. What was Topous charged for? He pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering back in the 1980s. However, that is still not enough to go by to get mentioned.
But, Topous does have one thing that gave him notoriety. He is a registered sex offender.
In 1999, he pleaded guilty to sexual assault with the intent towards sexual penetration. However, the prosecutor was not familiar.
It turns out that anybody can play the lottery. Only people that are excluded from playing are minors and those that work for the Michigan Lottery. That would mean that Topous won the money fair and square.
Topous said he would use the money to buy and house and put his children through school. The question is: What is Topous going to do with the rest of the money?
