While Indian Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is earning groundbreaking profits for Indian Railways, his daughter Rahini, 22, has been smashing records as a Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) agent.
Rahini has become one of the leading LIC agents in India, collecting 21 crores (210 milion rupees) in insurance policies since March.
Until now, chief executive officer of Escolife Ritu-Kapoor Nanda
was India’s top LIC agent. As may now happen to Rahini, Nanda rose to prominence after earning a place in the Guiness Book of World Records for selling 17,000 pension policies in a single day.
Agents from LIC offices in New Delhi did not comment on Ms. Rahini’s achievement. However, some LIC agents remarked that they could not collect policies in crores, adding that if they had been born as daughter or son of a minister, perhaps they similarly could have broken records as did Rahini.
LIC agents also said that Rahini had been doing her business only from her father’s residence, allotted to him by the government. They added that due to her father’s connections with prominent business agents, who chose to take policies through Rahini for lakhs of rupees, Rahini was able to collect her record-breaking amount of crores.
