“The Rite” is a book written by Matt Baglio which talks extensively about “exorcism” within the Catholic Church. Needless to say that within its pages are written many strange stories and anecdotes about supernatural encounters between members of the Catholic clergy and devils and demons during exorcism.
It should be understood that this book is non fiction. Many of these accounts are based on first hand experiences and eye witness accounts.
None stranger perhaps than the bizarre encounter one priest had that he will soon never forget.
The story goes like this:
“In order to determine whether a girl was possessed (or not), Father Gabriele Nanni once said a prayer in his mind in French. The Second he did this, even though the girl was sitting about ten feet away and with her back to him, her head spun around and her eyes rolled up, revealing the whites. Looking directly at him, she sneered in Italian. “It is useless that you pray in that language because we know them all.”
