Malawian journalist arrested
A Blantyre Newspapers journalist Mike Chipalasa was arrested on Saturday last week and charged with publication of false information .
The journalist quoted the Leader of the Opposition in Malawi John Tembo alleging that the Malawi Government has hired rigging experts for the 2009 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He therefore warned of serious consequences should the government go ahead in rigging the 2009 elections.
Tembo also cautioned the Memners of Parliament who are now leaving his party to join the government saying they do not stand a chance to win any future elections.

Government has advised the opposition to come up with evidence saying if they are aggrieved they should go to the court of law.
Whenever the police go to check with the opposition on the allegations of vote rigging, the opposition always say they have been misquoted by the press.
The reporter, who spent a night at the Police cell was released on bail on Sunday afternoon.

At a meeting Tembo addressed recently, he was reported as saying that the government has hired rigging experts and warned the government of consequences should it go ahead and rig the elections.
Government said Tembo should come up with evidence of the rigging experts.
Rumour of rigging experts have sent chills to many people who fear the elections next year might be characterized by violence .
The fears come about because of violence in Kenya which has already claimed lives of over 900 people as well as Zimbabwe where violence has made the country unstable thereby making food scarce.
During the same week , Police also arrested a member of Parliament for Lilongwe Hon Bondo for interfering with the deceased property.
They also arrested a magistrate for Lilongwe Magistrate court for careless driving.
