Measures underway to encourage Kashmiri youth:Chib

 

            Anantnag/Srinagar, May 01 (Scoop News) –   The Minister for youth Service and Sports and Medical Education,  R. S. Chib has said that the Government has initiated many steps to develop the basic infrastructure for the promotion of sports Culture in the State. He said presently many sports structures are coming up in the valley including sports structures at Rajbagh and Wathora in Srinagar District. He said that during next one year the youth will see the tangible results of the steps taken by the Government on the ground for promotion of the sports activities and basic infrastructure.

             Chib while addressing on the sidelines to the media persons at Government Degree College for Boys, Anantnag where final match of Sher-i-Kashmir T-20 Cricket Silver Club-2011 played between the two teams Tigers Sports Club and Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Club yesterday.  Chib said that the government is keen to utilise the potential of the youth on positive lines so that their talent is improved.

            The Sports Minister said that due consideration has been given for the development of sports activities in the state due to personal intervention of dynamic and young Chief Minister,  Omar Abdullah.  Chib said that for the first time during the last two years reasonable funds were made available to the department of YSS for the development of the sports infrastructure in the state.

            Replying to a question about non-availability of sports structure in rural areas of the state,  Chib said that a newly centrally sponsored scheme vis (PYKKA) Panchayat Yuva Khel and Krida Abhiyan has been launched by the government of India. He said that J&K State has been given preferential treatment to cover all the panchayats and block headquarters in five years in the state rather 10 years in other states of the country.  Chib was also thankful to MoS, GOI,  Ajay Markand for giving special attention to develop sports infrastructure in the state.  Chib emphasised for development of football fields and other indoor games, adding that the government contemplates to construct some more youth hostels in the state including at Verinag and Udhampur.

            Regarding the development of the main sports stadium at Anantnag, the Minister said that it will be upgraded shortly so that the stadium could be used for holding cricket tournaments and other sports activities. He also appreciated the efforts of the organising committee headed by Dr. Mustafa Kamal, MLA for organising this tournament in an excellent manner.

            Later, the Sports Minister presented trophy to winning team Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket club who defeated the rival team Tiger Sports Club by 7 runs. The Minister also visited Naynal and inspected a mini stadium. On this occasion, Dr. Veeri and other local people pleaded for the development of the stadium. The Minister directed the DDC Anantnag for taking matter with authorities.

            MLA, Hazratbal, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri, DDC Anantnag, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and Deputy Director YSS, Ms. Neelofar also witnessed the match.
