Carl Weisman, a Bachelor living in Australia did not take lying low the sneers and comments made at him to the effect that he is a play-boy, a loser, a commitment phobia etc, all because of the fact that he was an eligible bachelor who had not yet committed himself with a marriage. As a result,he took upon himself the onerous task of finding as to why he and a growing number of eligible men steered out of Marriage.
With the twin objectives of giving an insight to women as to why some successful men opted to stay single and give eligible bachelors an understanding as to why they chose to remain bachelors despite otherwise being successful in their lives, he conducted an on line survey of 1535 heterosexual men. He came out with the startling revelation that men Per Se are not afraid of marriages, but, they are afraid of a bad marriage. They are TEN TIMES more scared of marrying the wrong person than of never getting married at all.
Further broad-findings of his on-line survey are : (a) 8% of bachelors never wanted to marry,(b) out of 62% who wanted to marry 50% would not settle for anything less than perfection (c)30% were fence sitters undecided which way to jump. In regard to raising a family, 40% did not want to have kids.
His book ‘So Why You have Never Been Married?..Ten Insights into why he hasn’t Wed’ may become a handy tool for researchers to fathom further the growing trend on men to stay single despite less social or religious pressures.
