Midwifery school open at chitral

 Midwifery School Opened at Chitral.

CHITRAL: A midwifery school was opened at District Health Development Center Danin (DHDC) Chitral under the auspices of Maternity Newborn Child Health (MNCH) program NWFP. Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan was chief guest on the occasion. Addressing to the opening ceremony Saleem Khan said that this school would be declared mail stone in decreasing mortality rate in Chitral because majority of pregnant women are dying during their delivery due to non-availability of basic facilities and trained staff. He said that Chief Minister NWFP has specially approved a Nursing School at Chitral and will be launched next year. He said that there is acute shortage of female technicians and NWFP government is trying of its best to recruit more staff to settle this issue. He said that our motherland is facing numerous of crises but we should to overcome all these crises by our sincere efforts and best planning. He said main cause of these problems is increasing number of our population. He said we should to follow birth control policy otherwise we will not overcome these problems. Besides him EDO Health Dr. Sher Qayum, Dr. Salar Khan provincial chief of MNCH program, Dr. Zia Dawor, Dr. Ihsanullah Turabi and Dr. Fazal Qayum Director public health also spoke on the occasion while Dr. Israr Deputy Director DHDC performed as stage secretary. Gender Workshop concluded. A one-day Gender Workshop on Maternity Newborn Child Health was held here in a local hotel organized by National MNCH program NWFP. Provincial Minister for population welfare Saleem Khan was chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Salar Khan briefed the participants and stakeholders regarding aim, objectives and importance of this workshop. Dr,. Ihsan Turabi provincial chief of National Program presented his presentation on Gender Discrimination in Pakistan. Mrs. Razia Sultana Gender and Development Manager of AKRSP briefed the participants in her presentation regarding different issues to women folk at Chitral. Dr. Sajid Shaheen Director General Health NWFP said that some 16 MNCH school opened in our province for best service of public especially pregnant women and newborn children. He highly hailed this midwifery training of 18 months and stressed upon under trainee to gain most knowledge from these trainings. Provincial Minster Saleem who was chief guest on the occasion said that NWFP government is trying of its best to provide all best facilities to its dwellers. He said we focus on two sectors Health and Education but our first priority is improvement in health sector. He also motivate NGOs to support them in this sector. He said all latest equipment like MRI machine etc would be provided to DHQ hospital of Chitral as soon as possible along with human resources. He said our Tehsil headquarters hospitals are often deprived from basic facilities. He said a water supply scheme with a cost of 50 million rupees would be complete very soon at Chitral to solve potable drinking water problem. He also announced that a girls degree college will be opened at Drosh as well as hostel for girls degree college Chitral will be provided very soon. He said that Rural Health Center Arandu would be complete in near future as it has been approved by provincial government. He said due to financial crises in the country work stopped on some 20 mega projects in Pakistan but we specially requested to Premier and President for continuation work on Lawari Rail Tunnel, which will be complete at the end of this year. And we will request to PM and President for its inauguration. A large number of male and female participated in the workshop. G.H.
