All pitching all the time. The final 1-0, the losers, the team with the most wins in the majors this season, the Philadelphia Phillies. The winners the wild card St. Louis Cardinals.
Not a bad way to go out, on the losing side of a 1-0 game, but I wonder if it would hurt less if the Phillies got blown out? The Phillies lost the way they won all season, by pitching.
The best or one of the best in the game went down tonight by allowing a single run in the first inning. Pretty much end of story. Roy Halladay pitched a great game but was one-upped by another great, Chris Carpenter, he allowed no runs.
Carpenter went the nine allowing no runs, three hits, walked none and had three K’s. Halladay went eight, allowed one run on six hits, walked one and had seven K’s.
A good series to say the least and a great season for the Phillies but not what we were looking forward to for the ending. There is next year and the Phillies will be back.
There is no more drill, it is over for the Phillies. Total wins, 104 and nothing to show for all those wins (except great baseball all season). That’s baseball, what a game!
