SUNDAY QUICK HITS
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ TORONTO BLUE JAYS
Cliff Lee (9-6) had to lose soon since he had no losses in June. So today his first game in July was the day for a loss. Cliff had a four run lead from the second inning on to work with but the Blue Jays erased that and went on to win 7-4. Lee gave up three home runs, ten hits, seven runs, six earned, walked none and had nine K’s in 7.1 innings.
The Phillies offense had four runs on ten hits but came up short in the run department. Shane Victorino and Carlos Ruiz each had two hits. Jimmy Rollins (34) had two RBI and Ben Francisco (31) and Carlos Ruiz (18) each had one.
Jo-Jo Reyes started for Toronto going six innings allowing four runs on eight hits with no K’s and two walks. Octavio Dotel gets the win in relief holding the Phillies to one hit, no runs, in 1.2 innings.
Toronto went long ball on Lee as Eric Thomas (3) Edwin Encarnacion (6) and Jose Bautista (27) all homered. The Blue Jays scored seven runs on eleven hits, five for extra bases.
Philadelphia is 53-32 and the Blue Jays get closer to .500 at 41-44.
