HOMICIDE squad detectives are interviewing a man following the death of his wife at their home in Melbourne’s south-east this afternoon.
Police were called to a domestic dispute at house in Michelle Drive, Hampton Park, shortly before 2.30pm (AEDT) today, where they found the body of the woman, a mother of five aged in her 40s.
Two children, aged two and three months, were present in the house when the woman died, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
Her husband, 43, was arrested at the scene and has since been taken to the St Kilda Road police complex for questioning.
No one else was injured in the incident.
A police spokeswoman would not confirm what injuries the woman suffered or reports the couple had emigrated from Afghanistan and had only recently moved to the neighbourhood.
The children are in the care of the Department of Human Services.
