As Robert Mugabe “reclaims” the throne of being the dictator Zimbabwe, the violence in the country still continues. It would not seem that Robert Mugabe is satisfied with being “reelected” President of Zimbabwe. In this respect, Mugabe is bent on making his opponents feel suffering and humiliation. At the same time, Mugabe is showing that the international community is near powerless to remove him from power. In a nutshell, Mugabe is flaunting his power of Zimbabwe’s government by any means possible.
While food supplies in Zimbabwe are getting low, it seems that members and supporters of the Zanu-PF Party are getting the food. Members of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Party and the rest of Zimbabwe’s people are getting little to no food back. Mugabe plans to punish all that have opposed and voted against him.
Foreign and local aid agencies are powerless to help due to a ban placed by Mugabe.
Mugabe also plans to make MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai bow before him.
But, the violence by Mugabe’s Zanu-PF members and supporters has not ended. On the contrary, it has continued. The teenaged girls of Zimbabwe are suffering as well. They have been raped in torture camps by the Zanu-PF youths. There have been many rape-related pregnancies as a result. Also, some of the girls have contracted HIV-AIDS as a result of the rapes.
At the same time, there are reports that Mugabe’s government plans to eradicate the MDC from Zimbabwe’s parliament.
Mugabe is doing whatever it takes to greatly solidify his hold on Zimbabwe’s government.
So far, the international community has taken action. A new set of sanctions have already kicked in. So far, children of Mugabe’s top supporters studying abroad have been kicked out.
General Constantine Chiwenga’s daughter was recently kicked out from Germany. Chiwenga leads Zimbabwe’s Defense Forces and runs Joint Operations Command (JOC). Chiwenga and his wife already have travel sanctions slapped on them.
Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s governor Gideo Gono’s children have already been kicked out of Australia.
While Mugabe is planning to stamp out all opposition, there is one thing that he cannot escape from: Zimbabwe’s continued failing economy. It was not long ago that the country’s inflation rate was at 1,000%. That is the highest inflation rate in the world. Now, the inflation rate is at least 8.4 million percent.
Zimbabwe’s banknotes are virtually worthless. The German firm has stopped supplying Zimbabwe with the paper needed to make banknotes.
Sooner or later, Mugabe’s regime can and will be toppled. Whatever means that Mugabe will fall can and will be very dicey.
